Do young people have an interest in politics?
One of my early essays(edited). A well-planned esssay. But unfortunately, quite brief. It scarcely fulfills the word limit. :(
My Exams are (almost, but not quite) over. That means I can type and upload the fantastic essays I wrote for them! XD
So, this one was a quite surprising topic(Young people of today have no interest in politics. What are your views?). I mean, in Pakistan, it is quite contrary to the statement above. But that meant I could establish a strong arguement, so I decided to go for it. :D

I disagree with the opinion that youngsters of today have no
interest in politics. In fact, I believe that today’s youth holds a strong
interest in politics.
Most strength in political party rallies is from the youth. Young
people participate more enthusiastically in political events than adults, who
are either uninterested in such events or have other priorities. Young
people find this a fun pastime and participate in such events with great gusto
and zest. Moreover, youngsters often help in organizing such events and help in
arrangements. Majority of political party workers are also passionate young
people.
Youngsters have their own fans and they personally support some
particular political parties and admire political leaders. Adults may be wrong
in perceiving that young people do not know much about politics and are unaware
about most political activity but they actually know quite a lot about this
subject. Those who are not old enough to
cast their own votes try to persuade parents- or other people who are of age
and can vote- to vote for the parties they themselves support. They are ready to
launch into a debate and can give lots of reasoning for why one particular
party is worth voting for. They do not usually succeed in persuading but try
their best by presenting logical and unavoidable reasons.
Young people are often seen taking part or showing interest
in political discussions with their peers or with adults. They like to express
their views on political affairs and want to be heard as well. They can also be
seen listening -with great zeal- to political news being shared and pass it on to others.
In lots of political parties, student unions are formed
which are especially for youngsters; college or university pupils. Here young
people are seen participating with great passion and enthusiasm, in organizing
events or rallies. Often students express their devotedness with the party by doing wall-chalking and by doing graffiti on walls
which express their dedication.
In fact, in several universities, colleges, and educational
institutions, young people take more interest in political activity and
happenings rather than focusing on what is being taught. Their studies become
affected by such interests as all their attention is diverted towards political
activities. At such times politics can become a distraction for youngsters and
can lead to destruction but there is no denying the fact that young people hold
a strong interest in politics!
This is a very interesting subject to write about! I love the ideas you've presented! It's very true that politics is a significant aspect in life and one that young individuals should certainly indulge in for the better of them. You're right! Adults seem to underestimate us younger generations about our knowledge in politics. Which is a shame, really, because just recently in the UK anyone below 18 wasn't allowed to vote in the EU referendum despite the fact that it concerns our future and a lot of us DO know a lot about politics! (And even more so than those who voted out that is! xD) I love how you presented your views and backed up your answers with evidence! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI read about the EU referendum in the news. It's a pity that the youth wasn't allowed to vote(it's the same here in Pakistan. No one under 18 is allowed to vote either.(or drive, for that matter(but it's quite another thing that many kids break the rule in driving. XD.)))
I personally have a lot of interest in politics you know, but not too much......... :D
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with me! Although I do have an interest in politics, I also think that all politicians are idiots. :D
DeleteI haven't got any interest in politics, but I do agree that youngsters have quite a lot to say, but a very small audience to hear, and the age barriers also restricts them from participating in voting, and many other political activities
