If I were the Principal of a school...

I would make sure that every child is happy and contented. Teachers would be friendly and well-trained. The children would chose by themselves what they want to do. Field trips would take place twice a month. If the classwork is too easy or challenging for the child, he/she can be moved to the class according to his/her mental level. There would be limited rules and regulations so the children can work freely. Sports period would be fun and lively. Older children can have activities of cooking/baking, if they want. There would be an enormous garden where children could go and observe nature. Students of Class 2 and above would be allowed to do experiments and inventions. Twice an year, the kids would plan and put on a play by themselves. This is my plan of a Dream School!

Play: A Sonnet.

I recently wrote a Sonnet- The Shakespearean kind. I read about types of poems in a book, and so I tried to write it. Okay, I know a Sonnet is made up of beats and syllables, but I don't care if it doesn't fit the standards. I also know that a Sonnet is supposed to be about something serious and proper(at least Shakespeare' s  Sonnets were) but I wrote it the way I wanted to, as I write for myself. Anyways, here is it! Play Play is when you're on a slide, Play is to go and enjoy, Play could be to go and hide, That's what play is, a feeling of joy! Play is to be wild, not tame, Play is to enjoy, under the sun, Play is often called a game, Play is a name of having fun! Play is what you do at a park, Play is enjoying, together with friends, Play is when you're as happy as a lark, Play is something, that never ever ends. Play can be done, inside or out, Play is to hide, run and shout!

An Acrostic Poem: My brother

Here is an Acrostic Poem I wrote about my brother: Intelligent, Bold, Really Creative, Acrobat, Humurous, Enthusiastic, Enjoys Woodwork, Most Generous.

A Memory of Muscat...

Image
It was a nice, sunny, day. We had a tasty breakfast of sandwiches, got dressed, and set out for a walk. By 'we' I mean me, my siblings, parents, and a younger cousin. We were on a trip to Muscat. We were staying in my uncle's house. It was a really very enjoyable trip. We walked on, talking about road safety, and to hold hands while crossing the road. After walking for about 10 minutes, we reached Al Qurum Park.(orHadeeqa tul Qurum Attabibyah in Arabic) We went inside, and continued walking in the scorching heat, while taking LOTS of pictures. The park was very beautiful, with vast, green lawns here and there, and a winding path in the middle. There were various types of flowers, almost everywhere. We walked and walked. Finally,we reached the back door of the park. We walked some more, and finally, we reached our destination, The Children's Museum. It was a science Museum for kids of all ages. We went inside and did lots of experiments and learned new things. The Museum

My first Limericks.

Today I wrote two limericks. Here they are! Shoes The ones, you buy, that are tall, Wearing them, you're sure to fall, They're some called 'slippers', That look like flippers, You can wear them around the hall. Books They're wonderful things called books, The ones who don't read them are crooks, They sometimes contain a story, After reading them you'll always glory, So don't ever trust them by their looks. I just love them!

Colors.

Here's a poem I wrote yesterday about Colors.  Blue is the color of the wonderful sky,  Blue are the blue jays that fly up high.  Red are the sweetish strawberries,  Red is the shade of tasty cherries.  Yellow are the mangoes, so juicy and sweet,  Yellow is the sun that gives us heat.  Green is the color of vegies and leaves,  Green is the color of the tall, high, trees.  Pink is the color of lotion and cream,  Pink is ice cream, about which I dream.  Brown is the chocolate, I love to eat,  Brown is the soil, under your feet. Orange are the shades of sunrise, Orange is the meat, I eat with rice. The world is colorful, that's why it's so bright, Colors make us feel, nice and light.

Three things I'd like to wish for...

Here are three things I'd like to wish for if I ever get a magic lamp with the genie inside. Firstly, I wish to go to Jannah, as there is no place on earth like Jannah, and Jannah is the desire of a  Muslim. Secondly, I wish that four of my (two maternal, two paternal)cousins, who have moved out of Karachi, would return at once and for ever to their home-city, Karachi, for I miss them all more than anything. Last, but not the least, I wish I could fly up high in the sky like a bird, whenever I want to. Even though flying is something I've never done(except the two times when I sat in an airplane), I know it's going to be great. It'd be so much fun, to loop the loop between the clouds or to fly upside down. Even flying normally would be fun!

An Acrostic Poem

I recently decided to edit my Acrostic Poem so it matches me exactly(I had made one before but it wasn't too good) So I did! Here's it!   Zany,   Animal Lover,   Innovative Thinker,   Neat Worker,   An Aspiring Artist,   Beautiful Girl.

Finger and toe prints.

Image
Did you know that both your fingers and toes have prints on them? Each finger in this world has a different print, though there are four basic prints:                       Composite                                                                                     The whorl, the loop, the Arch, and the composite. The finger prints are very interesting-they're the Ayat-ul- llah! The Uniqueness of the fingerprints Recently, I found out, by staring at my hands and feet, that each finger, thumb, and toe, has a different pattern. Al you're fingers can't be the arch- they've got to be different! On one hand, I've got a pattern of the loop, the whorl, the loop, the whorl, and so on. Altogether, I've got 13 loops, 4 whorls,2 arches, and a single composite. I don't know if that you inherit fingerprints or not, But my sister, brother, and mother, all have arches on their thumbs. How very odd! How should I find my own fingerprints? Usually, th

Click the Green Flag to start. I made this project exclusively for Thinker's Club.  A few days ago,(the  day after it rained) when I went to the roof to get down the washing, I stared at the sky. It was so clear-as the clouds and pullotion had come down with the rain, I tried to remember  and spot any constellations in the sky- and I remembered, only one constellation with the shape- the Big Dipper. As I stared hard into the sky, I spotted it! It was quite far away(the pictures on the net are  probably close ups) but I saw it! I felt so pleased! IT felt wonderful to see it.

A selection of quotes.

I once heard the following quote, "In life, if people like you, then good, if not, then it's their problem!" -Anonymous This quote made me feel sort of stunned- it was really such a different point of view! I had never thought like that. Whenever I feel annoyed by anyone I just think of this quote- and start feeling happy again! When I think of my cousins- who have gone out of city, I think about the quote I once read...  Don't cry because it's over, Smile, Because it happened! -Dr. Seuss I really like it because it's a different perspective, to look at things- you know, like starting to look at the world with a new pair of glasses... Here's a quote about friendship that I heard somewhere, Don't follow me, I may not lead. Don't lead me, I may not follow. Walk with me, and be my friend. -Anonymous  This quote is just awesome! It describes friendship very well. It  also reminds me of one of my friends- Abiha-one of the most underst

Qualities of a Good and Creative Thinker

5 Qualities A Good Thinker should have. A Good Thinker….. 1.      Should be Curious about how things work. A good thinker should be curious about how things work-would want to learn and research more about things that interest him/her and those that he/she knows less about. 2.      Should listen to other’s opinions and value them to o. If we believe that we are the most creative and the best thinker of them all, This would be very wrong and selfish. A good thinker should learn that other’s opinions and other’s knowledge could be more advanced and better than him/herself. 3.      Should be positive and proactive . A good thinker should be positive about things and should think about positive and should be proactive. Being negative and reactive aren’t good signs of a Good Thinker. 4.      Should think on things worth thinking . If I start to wonder how to drive a car, this wouldn’t be something worth thinking. Anyhow, if I learn how to do it, the information wouldn’t

Review: The first session of Thinker's Club.

We have started a Thinker's Club or 'Halqa e Ghor o fikr' in Urdu. Over there we think about several issues and discuss what we should think about and what are we thinking. The first session took place in ERDC,3rd August,Sunday,2014. Here's a report that I wrote about it. If you're interested, please view this link to view the Thinker's Club Website: thinkersclubonline.blogspot.com . Here's the review: Today was the first session of our Thinker's Club. We had invited several kids, and finally,14 kids turned up. First we all introduced our selves and told 3 things about our self. Afterwards,we discussed lots of things like What's the most important topic to think about?  and Is there any question that you wondered about but you couldn't get the answer? or Is there any thing that you thought about but you didn't ask about it because you thought it was a really silly  question? Then we were divided equally in two groups and we thought up que

Mina and the Catnappers,Chapter no.1

Image
Here is a chapter of a Mystery that I wrote, with pictures. If you like it,please comment and I'll share a second chapter of it and so on. If you really like the story, chances are that I might share another such Mystery with you. So here's the first chapter:  Mina and the Cat-napp ers Chapter 1: Catnapped! Hina woke up with a start. She was sure she didn’t wake up just for nothing. She strained her ears to hear anything. Perhaps she heard the creak of a door or something, though she wasn’t sure. It could be the fan. Hina decided it was something. She rarely woke up for nothing at all. She tiptoed outside. She saw some muddy claw-steps in the hall. Mina, she thought instantly. Mina was Hina and her sister Anum’s cat whom the girls loved dearly. Maybe she had made the noise after all. Hina followed the claw steps all the way to the way to the door. She must’ve jumped up and opened the door like she does, thought Hina. Hina was afraid. I won’t go out alone, thought H

Candyland

One sunny morning, when I woke up, I realized that I was very hungry. I checked the fridge for something good to eat ,but in vain. The cupboards contained boring stuff. So,I quickly grabbed my purse and rushed outside,in search for some sort of cafe so I could have a fancy breakfast. As I came outside, I realized that I was thirsty too. I saw an Well of water and I ran to it. I scooped out a bucketful of water and drank it. It was sweetish-sour.  No sooner than it had crossed my throat,I realized that It was lemonade! I drank to my fill and continued my search. I saw a strawberry bush and plucked out a strawberry to eat. But to my surprise, it tasted sweeter than usual! Chewing some more, I realized it was chewy toffee, the kind that I loved. Mmmm! I plucked some more to eat on my way. I reached the road, walked and walked, and panted and panted. I felt more thirstier and not far off, I saw a pond. It was full of muddy brown water, but I was way too thirsty to care. I drank a handfu

Introverts & Extroverts.

Introverts and Extroverts are two types of people found in our environment. Nobody is a full extrovert or introvert. Extroverts are people who like to express their ideas in public. They usually participate in class, and are likely to answer almost every question asked, whether they know the right answer or not. These people are likely to be called foul names like 'Chatterbox' or 'Loudmouth' which is mean because that is making fun of a person's nature.  On the other hand, Introverts are quiet people who 'keep their ideas locked in their brains and throw the key away'. They process their thoughts in their brains and don't share their ideas with people. An Introvert might express his/her ideas with a friend or a close relative, but might not tell everyone what they think. Introverts are quiet people, but it doesn't mean that they can't be great. Introverts are wonderful people and are usually more mature. I'm not sure what I am, but I think

The dried flowers of our Nation.

As I was buying lots of toys from a Shopping Mall, I see a poor boy my age, looking longingly at a ball. I feel so sad and I wish that I could do something, I look at him and suddenly, I could do anything. ANYTHING to make him better, to make him happy too, To make that empty, sad face bloom with joy too. I look at him and then at me, and I know what to do, It'll make him feel better, and I'll be joyous too. I take ALL the shopping bags and hand them to that lad, He smiles and I smile back, feeling so warm and glad. These are the dried flowers, that exist in our nation, But I know that if we water them, it'll change the situation.

What I want to be when I Grow up.

I really don't know what I  am going to be. When I was about 3 years old I spoke of being a bear. That's impossible, of course.  At 7 I dreamed of becoming a Scuba Diver and Whale Trainer. It was the profession of my dreams. Now I remind myself that it's an imaginaton I'm not mad enough to accomplish. At 10, I ask myself what I want to be. I plan to go in the field of education, like my father. I am going to have to bring up ERDC. Me, my brother and sister would have to be the future leaders of it. But alongside it, I WANT to be a list of things that are mentioned below: - A faithful and true Muslim -An Artist. -An Author. -A relief worker. -A Mother. - A Cook. (sort of) Perhaps I won't be ALL of them but I wish to be so. Some things are weird. But dreams are meant to be wild, they are supposed to seem weird. Right now I am lots of things. Here's a list of them: -A good Artist - A nice writer ( I think I am) - A sister. -A kid entertainer + babysit

The Perfect Gift

When we want to celebrate, at birthdays,Weddings,Anniversaries, and parties,we like to celebrate by giving each other costly gifts. It feels nice and gives internal pleasure to gift. But we spend so much money choosing and buying them, why not save all that money, but make gifts more special? That's exactly what I started. Since I really enjoy crafts,I decided to Handicraft gifts. And I've got loads of examples. I've gave my Teacher the first glass I painted. I gave my other Teacher a pot I'd painted and decorated with beads. I enjoy creating jewelry,so I make it in my free time. You can give it to relatives, cousins, friends you name it. I experienced wood crafts at a course I attended, and soon after that, I've been making wooden photo frames. They look awesome. Craft is really my specialty. I like painting and pottery. I can draw and sketch very well. I guess I'm good at Arts and Crafts. Well,Everyone is. Maybe not so good at art, but Everybody has a talent t

Technology isn't Always Good

As technology is developing, now almost everybody has a smartphone. Even children, are often seen playing mobile games/computer games/or watching T.V far too much. What I believe is that any child under the age of 16 shouldn't have a personal mobile phone, because it is not at all healthy, leads to danger and can damage the brain. I have noticed that the kids who play far too much computer games, are not ready to play any of the traditional  games like Oonch Neech, Barf Pani, Pakram pakrai, and so forth. They think those games are boring, but the thing is that their mind set has changed according to the amount of mobile/computer games they play. It's just a time waster. If playing these type of games is one of your habits, then it is least likely for you to stop doing it. But if you have not started yet, then please be careful to save yourself from these technology dangers. But if you're already caught in this trap, I'm sorry. There's not much you can do. If you have a

Arts

Image
Arts is a subject that relaxes the mind, Bringing back ideas that were left behind. Sketching, drawing and painting, Are just only the beginning. Ahead there's glass painting and charcoal. Junk comes useful a whole lot more. Tin cans, cardboard and newspaper, You'll need each bit every vapor. You can also try model making, And feel as if from a dream you're waking. Go ahead and soon you'll learn, That there is lots more to learn.

Wasting Time.

Did You know that wasting time is bad, People are wasting it and most of you had. You spend time shopping uselessly at a mall. Boys spent hours playing football. Listen, you know you've got to pay for it, It's not for you to waste a bit. The time you've got it's to obey your lord, To worship and to pray to your god. Now you now that time is important, So don't do things that are unimportant.

Movie Review - The Last Samurai

A few weeks back I saw a movie titled The Last Samurai. The movie, set in Japan in the 1870's. For thousands of years back the Samurai army used to protect Japan. The Samurai used a type of Martial arts called "Kendo" which means way of the sword. The Japanese Emperor, who is in under of the Prime Minister,Omura, wants a new army so he asks the American government to send them someone who can train their new army,so the american send an expert Military officer, Algren to train their new army. Algren is to teach the new army to use weapons,(firearms, pistols, cannons) as the Japanese are new to weapons. The king has decided that the first task for the new army will be to destroy the Samurai, because now they have the new army, there is no need of the Samurai.  One day, some ministers, send by the Emperor, come and tell Algren that the king  has ordered that tomorrow the new army will have the first battle with the Samurai. Algren explains them that they aren't ready and ev

The Uncluttered Room.

Sarah was noticing that nowadays, her room was getting rather cluttered. Her bookshelf seemed far too small for the amount of books she had. And there barely seemed to be space for her toys. Her chair was dumped with clothes and her desk was filled with books that won't fit in the bookshelf. That morning,Sarah decided to clean her room. She took a quick shower, went in the kitchen, and arranged a tray of a few cookies,an apple, and poured out a glass of juice. She took the tray to her room, and sat on her bed with a notebook,a pen and the tray of food. While she ate,she made a list of stuff she needed to do. Here's what it looked like: -Give away some books that are not needed. -Add another rack to the bookshelf. -Buy a clothes stand to hang clothes and stuff on. -Get the curtains dry-cleaned. (they are getting dirty) Sarah decided to start with the bookshelf. She finished the juice, and ate the remaining cookies. Then returned the tray to the kitchen, and came back into her ro

Advantages and Disadvantages of Homeschooling.

As I am going through homeschooling,I believe that it is pretty beneficial. Why? I have  reasons, that's why. Homeschooling is easier than schooling. You just need room where you can study. If you have a good handle on your routine, things are easy. You work at your own pace, and give extra time to the subjects you're interested in. There are no rules as in school, and life and education seem a lot more easier. Especially if you have problems in school, homeschooling is just the thing for you. Here's a list of advantages: -You can work at your own pace. -No exams/checking -You can study more than school and whenever you wish. -You can spend more time with family and friends. -You can have extra activities and family outings. -You can get yourself registered in different courses/workshops. But as this article is  supposed to be about advantages AND disadvantages of homeschooling,I should also warn you about the few and only disadvantages. When I left school,(I used
