Proud to be a Pakistani

Everyone has a reason of pride, a reason to be proud over something. Something I feel proud about is my country. Pakistan is a country which I need and my country needs me.
But what I am noticing and feeling, strongly, is that many people don't seem to love their country, and are starting to devalue it.
Some people express their opinions by going abroad, leaving their home-country, while others keep complaining and cursing the country and it's government.
What I am trying to say is, that some people find no reasoning for loving their country. People need to know that their country has almost everything, and God definitely chose Pakistan to be their homeland, and not Africa, Antarctica, or America, because of some reason, right???
The most important things I see in this country and it's people, are...
...Brotherhood and unity amongst the people...
...The richness of the land, and the variety of wildlife we have here...
...The culture, the heritage, and the languages...
...The reason for why it was made, and the lives sacrificed or the sake of the nation...
...The fact that it is both an independent and a Muslim country...
The list is endless. it is true: when you start being thankful, you can never stop.
Our country needs improvement, it is improving. That the crescent moon on the flag also depicts.
We need to get better;we need betterment. We need to, vote, work, and strive for better.
But things do not get better by cursing, and blaming the government and the country for everything.
Or what is a citizen for?
That, we have to decide by ourselves.
Because we are Independent. And Independent we shall remain.

  1. Wow Zainab, this is a really good piece of writing! I have been long since trying to convince my relatives gone abroad to return - but my efforts have never been successful. :(
What we can do is to work for this country, and never leave it for the sake of getting money.

  2. True! And not a lot of people seem to want to take care of their country either, which is upsetting. Although some people do leave for different reasons too - like, if their job specialises in something, and there's no option but to move abroad to another country that has a job for it available. Otherwise, I do agree with you, and it's great you're proud of your country! :) Keep writing! <3
