Is Studying the MOST important aspect of a young person’s life?

A great topic, really- I am tired out of studying and it was fun to compose this, I had so many points in my head!

Studying may be an important part of a youngster’s life but it is incorrect to say that it is the most important aspect of a young person’s life. It is important, but its significance is yet to be understood. I won’t be wrong in saying that they are aspects which need to be given more importance.

Firstly, the purpose of life is not to study, study, and only study. There are things prior to studying, and thus they deserve more time and attention. These things need to be sorted out, and priorities should be made.

For this a student should have a flexible routine. Studying should be included, and a reasonable time should be allotted for the activity. But some freedom should be given, and strict limitations need to be eased. A youngster gets bored and tired out of only studying, and this should be kept in mind.
There are certain important things in a young person’s life that come before studying, and I would like to mention a few.
First of all, a youngster’s health is important. In order to be physically fit, some healthy activities and exercise should be done.  Some physical activities like jogging, walking, swimming, or maybe karate can be included.
A nutritional diet is also very important, and enough time should be taken out to eat. A youngster’s diet should contain carbohydrates, proteins, fruits and vegetables. Fats and oily acids should be avoided.
Sleep is also necessary, often students cut out on their sleep to have more time to study. This is a completely wrong strategy; in fact, researches have proved that less sleep affects brain efficiency. Sleep should be given reasonable time in a youngster’s routine.

Secondly, some time should be taken out to teach household skills, basic cooking and stitching, for instance. These are essential and important too, as a young person needs to know them to manage a home. Young girls need to be educated in this matter, as they are the ones who have the domestic responsibilities in a family.

Some time for socializing and meeting other people should also be taken out. Sometimes students burden themselves with their studies so much that they don’t take out time to meet their family, their siblings and parents. Children and teenagers should visit their family and relatives, to maintain good family ties. It is also good to meet friends once in a while.

Undoubtedly, studying is an important aspect of a young person’s life, but there are a number of things which are equally, or more, important. The significance of these things should be understood and need to be kept in mind to live a balanced life.

  1. You're right! We all need balance in life, not TOO much studying or no studying at all. I love the points you've made! :) I happen to know someone IRL who studies 24/7, and literally 24/7. She locks herself up in her room to study all the time. *shrugs* XD But the advantage is that she has lots of options for what she wants to be when she's older. :P I didn't know girls had the domestic responsibilities where you are! In England, the men are expected to have the same household responsibilities as the women... or they can be lazy and don't in some cases. XD Keep writing!

  2. Thank you Zainab for highlighting the value of non-study part of a student's life. In fact doing things other than studying is equally educational if not more. We learn through doing, through interactions and through experiencing life. When students tend to avoid life in order to become successful in studies, they win in exams and sometimes lose in life.
